Bentley made the Braves Facebook Page

Bentley made the Braves Facebook Page

This one was just too good not to share and keep archived here.  Today my brother, Todd, and I took his two year old son Bentley to see the Braves Caravan.  The Braves Caravan is where the team sends players to locations in “Braves Country” where fans can get autographs and meet the players.  They were in Greenville today so for die-hard fans like my family it was a no-brainer to go.  After waiting in a line for about 30 minutes we were able to meet a couple of players, get autographs and apparently they snapped a picture of us too.  Or more specifically they snapped a  picture of Bentley.  Bentley was getting his jacket signed by the players as as you can see in the picture below he was getting it signed by future Rookie of the Year Julio Teheran....

Some Thoughts on Bobby Cox

As I wrote a few years ago when Greg Maddux retired I’m also a big fan of the legendary Bobby Cox. Because of this last weekend I flew down to Atlanta with my buddy Mike Ewing for Bobby Cox’s final regular season game as a Major League Baseball Manager. I’ve been watch Bobby call the shots from the dugout for almost as long as I can remember.  I also remember the string of 14 straight division titles he delivered to Braves fans.  If I had the time I could go on and on with all the great memories from the man.  The legendary way he got thrown out of games or the records he holds.  The game on Sunday was a little emotional, but it was great to see the Braves pull it out in the end and make it to the playoffs for the first time since 2005. ...

Fenway Park Pictures: Braves In Boston

A little trivia for you.  Did you know that the Atlanta Braves not only were originally from Boston, but they were originally called the Boston Red Stockings and are one of the two remaining original National League Teams, the other team being the Chicago Cubs.  The original Boston Red Stockings team and its successors can lay claim to being the oldest continuously playing team in American professional sports.  It was in 1907 when the now known Braves gave up the name “Red Stockings,” which was then quickly picked up by the American League Boston Red Sox.  So take that Red Sox fans and your tradition!  This game happened to be current Atlanta Braves pitcher Derek Lowe’s first return to Fenway Park since leading the Red Sox to a World Series...

Greg Maddux: A True Legend Retires

I’m a die hard Atlanta Braves fan.  With the territory I’m a student of the game who values quality pitching and much prefer a pitching dual in a 1-0 game over a 10-9 slug out.  Today Greg Maddux announced his retirement.  Greg pitched for the Braves for eleven wonderful years (every year they were in the playoffs) and was a surgeon on the mound dissecting hitters like nobody else could with pinpoint control and the mental toughness like no other. Maddux wasn’t the most physical and his fastball only topped out in the 90’s earlier in his career but no one can deny his greatness.  It’s almost impossible to fully list all his accomplishments but I’m going to try and list a few. Four time CY Young Winner (1992-95 four consectutive...

I Have a Dream

Dear Frank Wren, My name is Kyle James and I am a die-hard Braves fan.  I am twenty-seven years old and can’t remember a time in my life when I didn’t love the Braves.  In the magical 1991 season I was in the fifth grade and it was a defining moment in my life.  It’s true just like any other young boy during that time I had dreams of growing up and wanting to be a major league baseball player and specifically an Atlanta Brave.  As I’ve grown up and realized my limited baseball skill, I still feel I could give anyone in an adult softball league a run for their money, being a major league player is out of the question.  This journal will include my documented feelings about the Braves organization that I love.  Hopefully over time I can show...
