Boston Harbor Sailboat Cruise

These pictures are a little late as Heather and I went out nine days ago.  Still there are some great pictures of Boston from the water to share in this set. ...

4th of July in Boston 2010 + Fireworks (Pictures and Video)

Yesterday was the 4th of July. While in Boston might as well walk around town and snap some pictures and shoot some video right? We also went back out that night to watch the firework show. If you have ever seen Boston’s Independence Day firework show on TV hopefully you won’t be disappointed by these pictures and video from the...

Weekend in Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard

Saturday August 1st, Heather and I left the apartment early in the morning to head to South Station, hop on a bus, and head down to Cape Cod for a weekend with our friends, Bonnie and Dave.  As a side note, Au Bon Pain’s Smoked Salmon and Wasabi on Onion Dill Bagel is an AMAZING breakfast sandwich. Anyway, so when you no longer have a car, traveling outside of Boston becomes a little bit of an adventure.  The bus ride was mostly uneventful besides the traffic, but when we arrived Bonnie and Dave were ready to take us on a ferry ride to Oak Bluffs on Martha’s Vineyard. It was a perfect day so I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves. Martha’s Vineyard reminded me a lot of Hilton Head, SC.  I guess the only difference is they get a lot...

Differences: Moving from the Country to the City

Here I am closing in on my third month of New England big city life and I thought I would take a little time to reflect on the differences between living in Duncan, SC compared to Cambridge, MA. From culture, temperature, size, and distance there is a lot of differences from living in a 1,500 square foot house that I own to a 1,000 square foot apartment that I pay three times the monthly payments and aren’t even building equity. Living in the Country Own a vehicle and drive everywhere Drive to the grocery store whenever you need anything When the dog needs to go use the bathroom you just let him out in the fenced in back yard No snow and the weather is warmer Grass to cut Twenty minute ten mile driving commute to work Living in the City Sold my vehicle and...

The Move to Boston

What a great little adventure trip.  Yes we had a little fun eatin’ chicken… So driving close to 1,000 miles in three days really makes you want to give up driving, so I did.  I haven’t driven since returning the car 1/5/2009 and really don’t plan on it anytime soon as I left my car way back in South Carolina.  So instead of writing about our stops in D.C., Rachel‘s House, and moving into the apartment I’ll just let you see the pictures for yourself.  Heather took most of the pictures while I was driving.  Enjoy and thinks for following along with...

What Was I Thinking: Moving to a Winter Wonderland?

I’m in the airport ready to travel back home to Duncan from quite an interesting last few days.  If you have been following the hash on twitter #kj-boston you already know some about the amazing trip getting there, but if not let me just give you a quick recap.  This was simply supposed to be a painless few day trip up to Boston to secure an apartment to live for the move on January 2nd. See What Wuz Supposed To Happen… Originally the plan was to leave midday Saturday and apartment shop Sunday & Monday make a decision and leave on Tuesday.  Simple enough?  Well…  not exactly. The winter blizzard that I left earlier in the week coming back from CASE V and that had blessing me with the opportunity to spend a restless night in the Charlotte...
